| | clicky clicky | ] | Was just on wonderful site for Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence: http://www.gofishpictures.com/GITS2/main.html and smufing around it. In "philosophy" link, under "dolls" there are some wonderful an illuminating comments about dolls, their immortality and how some of the look and feel for the characters in the film was inspired by bisque doll faces - "porcelaine like but not cold, like glass". Very RBK
I'm off to see the film in our new Picture House in groovy Greenwich and as I'm going in the afternoon - yay - skiving for once - I'm very excited. Especially too, as I got a brilliant Manga goodie bag from Picture House for being one of the first to book. OK - that's pretty sad isn't it!
On another matter - if anyone is inspired regarding RBK promotions, do let me know. As you may know I am invalided off playing the violin for RBK at the moment, having developed a Chronic Fatigue/ME type of syndrome after the allergic reaction to the Heparin I was put on. However - I'm on the case re. promos/nmarketing/advertising/ brand development etc.
So, my dears, please let's see if we can coordinate a good approach that will have measurable results so that we can get this magnificent band the status that it so richly deserves.
Contact me via lj and we'll work our magic.

| | crushed | ] | Moan . . . . Still struggling - since last posting it has all been going downhill. Feeling so crap that I couldn't do the York gig. On the up side: Got a nice black goth wheelchair though! So, do me a little dance and sing me a little song, need a bit of light entertainment.
On a lighter note . . . . Here's a thought - I keep meaning to post this - When I went to Thailand a while back, I noticed something strange . . . You know how government organisation websites have a suffix, e.g. in the UK it's ".gov.uk" etc. Well, in Thailand their governmental websites have the suffix ".go.th" How cool is that??? |

| | Bach Goldberg Variations | ] | Hello all, Sorry I have been out of touch for a while. I managed to develop a DVT after flying back from the USA a few weeks ago. OK - not too clever to be sure and pretty scary - I remember sitting in the hospital thinking that it was quite weird that the damn thing could break loose at any time and I could have a stroke/pulmonary embolism/heart attack etc. etc. and - if any of these were fatal, wondering what my last view of the world would actually be. (What a bloody drama queen.) In fact, I was in Queen Elizbeths in Woolwich so the actual last "vision" would be Burberry and big gold hoop earrings on both males and females, as QEH caters to all of Sarf East London - I am not joking about the Burberry & earrings by the way. Seriously though - it was a very weird time. However next . . .things took a turn for the worse . . . I was "lost" in the hospital and it was five hours before I actually got my first heparin injection - unforgivable! So, went on to daily heparin shots and even learned to do them myself like a big brave girly. Problem was that I then had a massive allergic reaction to the preservative in the heparin and that's when things went truly pear-shaped. So, I've been feeling like a big pair of grey pants in which the elastic has seen better days and very frustrated.
So, tell me a joke, sing me a song, do me a dance - I need a bit of cheering up!
Ta very much and chat soon XX |

| | Sea Gulls and Parakeets | ] | Men may not be seen publicly in any kind of strapless gown. (Well I can't break that one but most of the RBK guys might want to give it a try.) Having sexual relations with a porcupine is illegal. (Just one small prick) It is illegal to skateboard without a license. (Dude - denied!) When having sex, only the missionary position is legal. (No - I can't agree to this one - As Mae West replied, when asked if she thought sex was dirty; "Yes, but only if it's done correctly") You may not fart in a public place after 6 P.M. on Thursdays. (Being a girly I never make windy pops, so this doens't apply to me.) It is considered an offense to shower naked. (Erm, Officer, What if I cover myself with another clothed person - would that help? Would it be even better if they were wearing a uniform? Hop on in Big Boy. . .) |

| | RBK - of course! | ] | Well, How y'all doin'?
As you might have guessed, I am in the US and will be here for the next month. Something to do with work. I'm missing RBK like hell and am not even going to be able to be there for the Dev gig. (I did look into flying back for the Dev gig but it's just impossible.) However - I have a cunning plan for another London gig fairly soon and will keep you posted on developments. I've been listening to the new songs that you are going to hear at the Dev and they are STUNNING!!! You are going to love them.
When in Rome . . . I'm off to put on my frayingest Daisy Dukes and go to the massive Sam Ash music shop - it's like a huge warehouse stuffed with anything you could ever desire - musically, that is. They don't actually sell everything you could ever desire coz most of that would probably be illegal in 49 States.
Speaking of which, I am in Florida - yes, home of Jeb Bush - and they do have some pretty unusual laws here:
* Women may be fined for falling asleep under a hair dryer, as can the salon owner. (Damn, I'm sleeeeepy) * A special law prohibits unmarried women from parachuting on Sunday or she shall risk arrest, fine, and/or jailing. (Geronimooooooooooooo . . .) * If an elephant is left tied to a parking meter, the parking fee has to be paid just as it would for a vehicle. (Where the hell did I leave my . . Oh damn got a ticket!) * It is illegal to sing in a public place while attired in a swimsuit. (Nah, shurely not. I'm gonna try this later.)
Anyways, y'all take care now and I'll probably be in jail - wearing a fetching orange outfit - next time I write. XX |

I'd especially like to thank Paul and Lily for being so kind as to let Layla and I use their house as our dressing room. You are just lucky we didn't steal your gorgeous cat. (Only because he is too darn big to fit in my violin case:-)
I would also like to mention Alan at Shure for going above and beyond the call of duty - so if any of you need to buy any equipment at all - I unreservedly recommend Shure. They ROCK!
Sorry if this reads like a cheesy oscar acceptance speech. It's not meant to, it's just that so many people have been very kind and I wanted to express a little gratitude. |

Anyway, I have an "Ask the Expert" natural health column in various newspapers and magazines and so on, including that venerable tome, Womens Own:-) Just the other day I was reading the column to check it and make sure that everything I submitted was there and that nothing naughty had crept in and I noticed that my pic was right next to one of my all time fave ladies - the goddess Marilyn Monroe herself. Little me on the same page as Marilyn - who'd a thunk it!
All of which leads me onto a "Star-Spot Spot"! Which stars have you spotted and in what setting - the more incongruous the better - obviously. |

| | Loadsa tunes | ] | Now I'm on a roll. . . On my horrible scary journey I was listening to a mishmash of music and I was imagining how these songs would sound if RBK covered them. Now, I'm sure that there are many posts of this nature but as I'm a new girl - humour me! Can you imagine Layla and Azzy singing The Ace of Spades? I reckon it'd work as it is such a different song as inimitably done by Our Lord Lemmy that I think that Layla and Azzy could change it in a good way. And imagine the soaring violins! What other songs - the more preposterous the better - do you think that RBK should cover?
So far I vote for Anarchy for the UK, Sympathy for the Devil, and a really pretty version of Poison. I also have converted, in my head, Gary Numan's Cars to a very catchy and elegant waltz. |

| | The Ace of Spades (exorcising Road Rage) | ] | I just drove from Battersea (SW London) to Greenwich (SE London). It took one and a half hours and there were three road rage incidents on the way. What is happening to people? I am noticing in London especially that we are gradually becoming dehumanised and certainly more aggressive. I don't see this in other big cities necessarily (e.g. New York, Bangkok, Tokyo etc.) So why here? Any ideas? |

| | The whirring of my hard disk | ] | This is the first time that I have used my spanking new Live Journal which Layla kindly helped me to set up last night. (We were rehearsing and Phil and I worked on some great sounding violin parts for your delectation). It was great to have nearly everone in RBK there - as you know it's a somewhat elastic band and keeps getting bigger and smaller, curiouser and curiouser! I then had the train journey from hell going back up to London. Wrong kind of snow apparently which made trains break down and so on. Not fun at all, although I did encounter a very funny guard on the train who kept me amused and I have converted (subverted?) him to the RBK cause. Just call me the Dark Evangelist:-) |
